The Performance of Engine Operated with Diesel and Biodiesel Blend
Main Article Content
Abstract
The use of vegetable oils as a raw material for fuels is not new. Much of all the energy consumed in the world comes from oil, a limited source and expected to be depleted in the future. The demand for energy is growing and needs to be met with more environmentally correct alternatives, such as biodiesel. Due to the similarity of fluidodynamic and thermodynamic properties, biodiesel and petroleum diesel have equivalent characteristics, especially seen from
the aspects of combustibility in diesel cycle engines. In this work, we compared the consumption of biodiesel from fried oil produced at the Environmental Analysis Laboratory of UnC - Campus de Concórdia, with the conventional diesel purchased from the automotive supply network, in a
Lintec engine, model D10, diesel, 4-stroke. Through the results, it was observed that the differences that ith the increase in the percentageof biodiesel added to petroleum diesel, ther is a recuction in engine performance. There is a higher fuel consumption (17,04%) where B0 has a
consumption os 0,93 L/h and B100 1,09 L/h.
